In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. -Matthew 5:16

Psalm 136 (New International Version)

1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good.
His love endures forever.
2 Give thanks to the God of gods.
His love endures forever.
3 Give thanks to the Lord of lords:
His love endures forever.
4 to him who alone does great wonders,
His love endures forever.
5 who by his understanding made the heavens,
His love endures forever.
6 who spread out the earth upon the waters,
His love endures forever.
7 who made the great lights—
His love endures forever.
8 the sun to govern the day,
His love endures forever.
9 the moon and stars to govern the night;
His love endures forever.
10 to him who struck down the firstborn of Egypt
His love endures forever.
11 and brought Israel out from among them
His love endures forever.
12 with a mighty hand and outstretched arm;
His love endures forever.
13 to him who divided the Red Sea asunder
His love endures forever.
14 and brought Israel through the midst of it,
His love endures forever.
15 but swept Pharaoh and his army into the Red Sea;
His love endures forever.
16 to him who led his people through the desert,
His love endures forever.
17 who struck down great kings,
His love endures forever.
18 and killed mighty kings—
His love endures forever.
19 Sihon king of the Amorites
His love endures forever.
20 and Og king of Bashan—
His love endures forever.
21 and gave their land as an inheritance,
His love endures forever.
22 an inheritance to his servant Israel;
His love endures forever.
23 to the One who remembered us in our low estate
His love endures forever.
24 and freed us from our enemies,
His love endures forever.
25 and who gives food to every creature.
His love endures forever.
26 Give thanks to the God of heaven.
His love endures forever.

Give thanks to the Lord, His love endures forever. This is something simple, to be learnt from this whole long chapter.

Have we been doing things, serving God and yet forgotten the foundation of all things - God's love endures forever? God will carry us through, be it the hard times, the most scary moments. From the lowest pit, to the highest peak. No matter how we're feeling or what we're going through. Be it we realise it or not, God was there, is there and will still be there for us. So let's take a break from the busy life, and go back to God's foundation once again, God's love for us - people.

Everything we have now, is not by chance, but blessed by God. So let's have a thanksgiving heart before God. And for those who are going through tough times, don't fret, God is there. God didn't promise us a smooth-sailing life, but He did promise us that He'll be with us all the way, despite circumstances.

Hebrews 13:5 (New International Version)

5Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,
"Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you."

Know why He does this? It's so that we will continue to grow, forcefully advancing the Kingdom.

Matthew 11:12 (New International Version)

12From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it.

Camp is just a few days away, have we prepared ourselves for it? Will it be just another camp? Or will we bring something special from God home? The decision lies in us. What kind of heart do we want to bring into camp? And what do we want to be like coming out from camp? Let's take time, to seek God, ask Him, what is it that He wants us to bring home. Only when we do so, woodlands will be revived, woodlands will grow further. Only then, God will anoint us more and give us more.

Let's surrender our lives before God, not focusing on our problems anymore, but on God. Looking at the bigger picture, and not the small fault. His Grace alone is enough, we don't need to do anything. But because He has shown us true love, we want to do things for Him out of love. Doing things for Him, serving Him, outreaching, all won't be difficult at all. Not because the situation changed, but because we know the reason why we do it, and who we are doing it for. God doesn't change the circumstances, but He changes our hearts, our view towards the things, the problems, towards life. It will be the fuel that will always be charing us to do more things for God.

Let our lives illuminate for God ;
